Game #2 didn’t start much better than the first game, with both teams – Eagle and Timberline – preferring to spend the first quarter getting a feel for each other.
Eagle started in a 1-2-2 zone that looked like a match up hybrid. Their guards are quick with good lateral movement so it does a pretty good job of locking down the top of Timberline’s offense. Jackson Reed did a good job of finding gaps in the Eagle zone, carving out some offense.
For Eagle, Braiden Shaw started to show a little of what we all expect that he could be. He knocked down a few jumpers and then had couple delicate finishes inside.
At the half Eagle was up 20-19 on a Jon Satchwell runner at the buzzer. It wouldn’t be his last one.
Timberline opened the second half aggressive. They used some full court press to speed up the tempo and attacked on offense. They would take the lead into the final quarter, 32-27.
But in the fourth, Timberline relaxed. They became passive on offense and Eagle seized the opportunity. They battled back and took the lead with 2:00 to go.
It was back and forth until Satchwell would hit a three from the corner. It would end up being the game winner. Eagle advances to the semi-finals against Borah on Saturday at Rocky Mountain.
Timberline will take on Vallivue in an elimination game at Eagle on Saturday.
